More 'petty politics' courtesy of Jim Matthews

From Margaret Gibbons' latest column on the inner workings of Montgomery County government:
Word is that the current county administration under Commissioner James R. Matthews is behind the squeezing out of well-respected Norristown lawyer Dick Winters as solicitor of the county prison board and replacing him with Wendy Demchick-Alloy.

Why?

Winters, who is one of the county’s top defense attorneys, was supportive of the entire Republican county ticket last year but apparently was not supportive enough of Matthews individually, according to sources.

Matthews also was responsible for removing Winters as county solicitor and replacing him with Miller the first time Matthews served as county chairman.

Demchick-Alloy, a former county prosecutor who is a member of the prison board, is certainly competent.

However, it is pretty pathetic to allow petty politics to force out someone who is more interested in serving the public than in serving politicians from a job that should be apolitical.
Very little that happens in county government gets past Gibbons.

Gibbons's column also has an update on the Bobble Head Boys, state Reps. Reps. Daylin Leach, Josh Shapiro and Mike Gerber.

she should report on the crybaby former DA who doesn't want to work with Democrats. just because it's 2 to 1, that baby says Democrats lost and Republicans won. it's called bipartisanism and it works better than the stupid fighting that is going on with the crybaby castor.

Sounds like Joe Hoeffel is posting anonymous comments again. Bruce Castor has a legitimate gripe. Montgomery County voters elected a Republican Board of Commissioners to be headed by Bruce Castor. To have Jim Matthews make a secret deal with Joe Hoeffel is a betrayal of Montgomery County voters.
