Hoeffel defends patronage hirings

Montgomery County Democratic County Commissioner Joe Hoeffel took exception to a recent editorial in The Mercury criticizing him for the apparent hypocricy of seeking office to end patronage hiring, but then turning around and hiring a bunch of political cronies to lucrative county jobs.

Hoeffel submitted a rebutal saying that the Democratic politicians who were hired by the county were the most qualified people available. I'm not convinced. See if Hoeffel makes his case by reading the full text of "Recent hirings based on merits" in today's edition of The Mercury.

Prince Joe forgets to mention these hires:

K.C. Carolina - Treasurer of the Montco Dem Party, Chairman of the Power Providence Democratic Party, defeated candidate last year of County Treasurer. Current candidate for State Representative against incumbent Republican Mike Vereb.

Ed Cheri - Defeated candidate last year for Montgomery County Sheriff

Joan Nagel - Defeated runningmate of Joe Hoeffel for County Commissioner in the '90s and longtime Democratic activist.

HRH also fails to mention that they increased the number of the commissioners staff from 21 to 24. That occurred AFTER King James and he made their deal.
