Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission Chairman Mitchell Rubin, the target of an FBI corruption investigation, gave himself an extended leave of absence on Saturday.
Gov. Ed Rendell handed Rubin a permanent leave on Monday, removing him from the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission effective immediately.
Rubin has not been charged with any wrongdoing, but his name came up during the corruption trial of former sate Sen. Vince Fumo, who was found guilty last week of 137 charges.
Rubin, of Philadelphia, has served on the Commission since June 1998 and was elected chairman in 2003.

What is missing from this article for those who don't know. Rubin is the husband of Fomo's convicted co-conspirator aide, Ms. Arno. Brought out in trail he received $30,000 a year for doing nothing. When first confronted Rendell stated that he didn't know if he had the power to fire him. Let's get this straight. Here is a guy getting paid by the State for doing nothing and the State's chief executive does know if he can do anything about it. What are we going to do continue to pay him? Could people be worried that the head sow (Fumo) and her piglets are going to give up names?
Mitchell Rubin is the co-founder of B&R Services in Philly. They are the agency that billed the Senate the 30K a year for five years for the "no work" contract on behalf of Mr. Rubin. It also turns out that in the 1980's Ed Rendell AG office investigated Rubin and B&R for alleged corruption. Apparently this self dealing and use of "Other People Money" has been going on for some time.
