'The 10 Most Endangered Newspapers in America'

How bad are things in the newspaper industry? The parent companies of 33 U.S. daily newspapers are currently in bankruptcy court, with more expected to follow.

Writing for Time magazine, Douglas A. McIntyre has published a list of "The 10 Most Endangered Newspapers in America."

Based on an analysis done by the Web site 24/7 Wall St., "it's possible that 8 of the nation's 50 largest daily newspapers could cease publication in the next 18 months," McIntyre writes.

The list of endangered newspapers includes The Philadelphia Daily News.

Check out the full list at Time's Web site.

You can also read a response to reports of the Daily News demise from Brian Tierney, chief executive officer of Philadelphia Media Holdings, at Philly.com

I'm thinking of starting a list of weekly news magazines that will probably go out of business and it includes both Newsweek and Time. (U.S. News & World Report has ceased publication and is now available exclusively online.)
