The new Democratic mayor of the City of Reading, which is bankrupt, has nominated for the post of city managing director a politically-connected Democratic who owes $45,000 in unpaid taxes and water and sewer bills to the city.
Mayor Vaughn Spencer knew all about Scott G. Hoh's unpaid taxes and bills, but still nominated the man to help run the city....(further into the ground?)
No wonder Reading is bankrupt.
To its credit, the Reading City Council, which consists of 7 Democrats, rejected Hoh's nomination on Monday. But the vote was 5-1 with one abstention.
And Spencer has a knack of going behind council's back to get what he wants. He wanted to hire another political crony but the council rejected him three times, but Spencer eventually found a job for his pal inside city hall ... only to have the man resign after newspaper articles pointed out he had no qualifications for the post.
Just business as usual in Reading.
