'Bruno' tops weekend box office, dethrones 'Transformers'

Who saw this one coming?

A gay Austrian fashionista topples the mighty "Transformers" from its three-week perch at No. 1.

Yes, Sacha Baron Cohen, the man who gave us "Borat" in 2006, has done it again. "Bruno" topped the weekend box office for July 10-12 with an estimated $30.4 million, ending the three-week run of "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" at No. 1.

That's quite a feat considering "Bruno" is rated R for "pervasive strong and crude sexual content, graphic nudity and language," so a lot of younger moviegoers aren't buying tickets to it. Also of note is the fact that "Bruno" opened in only 2,756 theaters, compared to 4,293 locations for "Transformers 2."

Don't feel sorry for "Transformers 2." The sequel has grossed $339 million so far and has already passed "Spiderman 3" on the all-time box office list and should finish among the Top 10 biggest hits of all time.

Here is this week's Top 5 films based on studio estimates as reported by BoxOfficeMojo.com:
