Obama permanently out to lunch

Dan Spencer on America's part-time president:
Yet that's precisely what the Associated Press noticed in a new report this morning. The first line: "It's awfully quiet at the White House these days."

Sure, when you have a president who spends most of his time on the trail spinning rhetoric and fundraising for his campaign coffers, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue will tend to be "awfully quiet." This might explain why while our Libyan ambassador is dead and our embassies are under repeated siege, the White House still appears to know next to nothing about what went down in Benghazi. Even top Senate Republicans are fuming today that they are learning more details from the New York Times than from closed-door State Department briefing. Unemployment is rising in half of the states, and US industrial production is falling at the sharpest rate in three years, and our President is focused on hard-hitting interviews with radio hosts like Pimp with the Limp. On David Letterman, he casually admitted that he doesn't know what the national debt is, and that it's not a pressing concern.

Tom Smith Closes Gap With Bob Casey in US Senate Race

It was looking like a runaway for incumbent U.S. Sen. Bob Casey Jr., but Pennsylvania voters are taking a closer look at Republican challenger Tom Smith, a longtime Democrat who won the Republican primary to take on Casey, a close ally of Barack Obama.

With less than seven weeks remaining until Election Day, a new poll conducted by Susquehanna Polling and Research for the Pennsylvania Republican Party shows United States Senate candidate Tom Smith within the margin of error - trailing Democratic Senator Bob Casey 42% - 45%.

"It's no surprise this race has continued to tighten as voters are beginning to better understand the differences between Bob Casey, an ineffective career politician and Tom Smith, a self-made job creator," said Smith Campaign Manager Jim Conroy. "In November, voters will have a clear choice between Bob Casey's support for job-killing policies, including higher taxes, record debt and bigger government versus Tom Smith's detailed plan to reduce the debt, simplify the tax code, and grow the economy to create jobs."

"Our campaign is humbled by the outpouring of support we've received from across the Commonwealth and encouraged by the momentum we continue to see in public polling," Conroy added.

The Susquehanna survey of 800 likely voters was conducted September 15-17.

New Susquehanna PA Poll: Obama 48% - Romney 47%

Pennsylvania may be in play after all.

In a blow to the Obama campaign and its media allies, who have proclaimed the election over, a new Susquehanna Polling and Research poll to be released Thursday morning shows the race in Pennsylvania is a statistical tie.

If Obama loses Pennsylvania, his chances of winning re-election are slim and none with slim last seen heading west on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

Most polls had Obama pulling away with the race in the Keystone State, but the Susquehanna Poll is the most recent sampling of likely voters. It shows Barack Obama with 48 percent support compared to 47 percent for Mitt Romney. The Susquehanna poll was conducted on Sept. 17.

The full poll results will be released at 10 a.m. Thursday during a telephone conference with media by Pennsylvania GOP Chairman Rob Gleason and Jim Lee, president of Susquehanna Polling and Research.

The Pennsylvania poll, coming on the heels of an Associated Press/GfK Poll that shows he national race is also a statistical tie (Obama 47% - Romney 46%) means the race is anyone's to win with 50 days left until Election Day.

Romney Closes Gap In Pennsylvania

This will freak out Democrats and their liberal media allies. A Susquehanna Polling and Research poll scheduled for release on Thursday has President Obama and Mitt Romney in a virtual tie in Pennsylvania, with Obama at 48% and Romney at 47%. The survey was conducted on Sept. 17, so it's the most up-to-date look at the presidential race in the Keystone State.

Poll Finds Strong Support for New Pennsylvania Voter ID Law

There's no question that the new Pennsylvania Voter ID law has turned into a political football. Democrats found eight people to sue the state claiming their right to vote will be suppressed. Never mind the fact that all eight plaintiffs have or were able to get a valid photo ID card. The facts don't matter here. This is a party with a long history of voter fraud in places like Philadelphia maintaining the status quo.

Before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court rules on the matter, the justices, who are elected, should keep in mind that a new poll commissioned by the Democratic Party-friendly Philadelphia Inquirer found that nearly 7 in 10 Pennsylvania residents support the new law (including 46 percent of registered Democrats).

Whatever short-term benefit the justices may think they will get from big-money Philadelphia Democrats will be canceled out in the end by voters who are tired of activist judges usurping the authority of elected legislators and the governor.

'Resident Evil: Retribution' Tops 'Finding Nemo' at Weekend Box Office

The cartoonish, but definitely not-for-kids "Resident Evil: Retribution" in 3-D topped the weekend box office, edging out the cartoonish and definitely-for-kids re-release of "Finding Nemo" in 3-D.

The fifth installment in the "Resident Evil" series starring Milla Jovovich as indestructible zombie fighter Alice earned $21.1 million.

"Finding Nemo" earned $17.5 million, a bit of a disappointment for Disney/Pixar considering that Nemo had a built-in audience and was tailor-made for a 3-D conversion. But don't shed any tears for Disney/Pixar, which reportedly spent $5 million to convert "Nemo" into 3-D so the studio has already seen a profit.

Also of note: "2016: Obama's America" earned another $2 million at the box office, topping $30 million so far.

Unfortunately, the studio that released "2016: Obama's America" - Rocky Mountain Pictures - could not replicate its earlier success with the faith-based "Last Ounce of Courage," which earned just $1.7 million in more than 1,400 theaters.

Challenge to Pa. voter ID law is case of contradictions

Remind me again why this case is before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.

From PA Independent:
All eight plaintiffs seeking an injunction to prevent the law from taking effect before the Nov. 6 election possess the required photo identification or other documentation the new law requires to vote. That brings to questions the plaintiff’s main claim that thousands of Pennsylvanians couldn’t obtain the necessary identification in time.

While I firmly believe everyone is entitled to some privacy, I also know that if you are Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, and arguably No. 1 on the list of women the paparazzi would most want to capture naked, you should probably keep your clothes on in public.

Have you heard of a tanning salon, Kate?

She was outdoors and she took her top off. What do you expect?

Hell, with all the satellites and drones flying around, I don't care how secluded the resort or beach is. Somebody can snap your photo.

Romney Announces Pennsylvania Campaign Leadership

The Romney Campaign today announced statewide and county campaign leadership throughout Pennsylvania.

“Pennsylvania is going to play a pivotal role in this election," said co-chairman Gov. Tom Corbett. "In 2010, the voters of Pennsylvania were tired of the status-quo and supported the candidates who stood for common sense priorities like fixing our economy and creating jobs — In 2012, Gov. Mitt Romney is that candidate. Gov. Romney has a plan and proven leadership to grow the economy and restore America as the best place in the world to find a job, start a business, and raise a family."

“As champions of fiscal responsibility, the big-spending agenda and failed economic policies of President Obama have been disheartening to Gov. Corbett, myself and millions of Americans," added co-chairman Sen. Pat Toomey.  "In the U.S. Senate, I have fought hard to restore the principles of a limited government and an American economy that is a shining example for the world. Rather than work towards economic recovery and the future of our children and grandchildren, President Obama has made his re-election his top priority, and the only way to change our nation’s course is to make President Obama’s first term, his only term.  I am proud to be part of the team that will ensure Gov. Romney’s election as President, and a return to the principles that have made America the  greatest nation on earth.”
