AHEPA Chapter 61 awards $5,000 in scholarships

The Gust C. Kraras Chapter No. 61 recently awarded a total of $5,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors of Greek descent during its annual Scholarship Banquet at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Reading, Pa. Approximately 70 people attended the event, with Brother Christ Kraras serving as Master of Ceremonies in the absence of Chapter President George Giovanis. Four of the five recipients attended the dinner. Pictured from left are recipients Angie Miranda-Ganas, Berks Catholic High School; Eleni Sterious, Conrad Weiser High School; Zoe Thompson, Daniel Boone High School; and Anthony Futrick, Wilson High School. Not pictured is JoAnna Lee Helm, Wyomissing High School.  AHEPA is the largest and oldest grassroots association of American citizens of Greek heritage and Philhellenes with more than 400 chapters across the United States, Canada  and Europe.  AHEPA's mission is to promote the ancient Greek ideals of Education, Philanthropy, Civic Responsibility, and Family and Individual Excellence through community service and volunteerism.
