Casey is proposing a hike
in the federal gas tax, not necessarily to fix roads and bridges but to
pump more money into big city public transit authorities to keep paying
high wages to those unionized bus drivers and mechanics.
made his plea for higher taxes at a press event flanked by the general
manager of SEPTA, the always financially-strapped Philadelphia transit
authority, and Montgomery County Commissioner Josh Shapiro, another
tax-and-spend liberal who wants to be governor of Pennsylvania some day.
