Newspaper: Pennsylvania voters should have a say in tax hikes beyond inflation

Republicans in the Pennsylvania Legislature are pushing a bill that would make it tougher for local school boards to raise property taxes every year. The education establishment and their Democratic allies in the Legislature oppose the bill.

From an editorial in The Reading Eagle:
The Issue: Legislation would eliminate exceptions that allow school boards to avoid referendums on tax increases. Our Opinion: The bill should pass and force tighter fiscal controls.
